Everything in BreedMap is private by default. Publishing puts one item's public page on Public, the registry anyone can browse, also without an account. Retracting takes it off again.
Before you start #
- Be signed in and online, and have the publish permission. During the beta, publishing is by invitation.
- The item must be synced. Publish is not in the menu while the item has changes waiting; press Sync first.
- A checked-out item must be checked in first.
- Demo items cannot be published.
Publish one item #
- Open the item: Private > the project > the item's tile.
- On the item page open More ▾ and press Publish.
- A Publish preview opens. It shows exactly what will be public: name, project, generation, strain, the modified flag, parents (hidden ones shown as "?"), the values and how many photos go public.
- If the item is marked as modified, tick I confirm that publishing it complies with the rules that apply to me. The app gives no legal advice.
- Press Publish. The result is "Published", or "Sent for approval by an admin or owner" when your role in a family or company workspace sends publish requests instead of publishing directly.
Publish several items at once #
Tick the items in the project and press Make public. A Publish selected items preview lists each item and whether it "Will be published" or is "Already public". Items that are not yours to publish, not synced or checked out are counted and left out. Press Publish n items.
Keep editing after publishing #
Publishing does not lock the item. You can keep editing in Private; Public shows the published version until you press Publish again. The public page follows each field's and photo's sharing ticks, so what you untick stays private even on a published item.
Retract #
- On the item page open More ▾ and press Retract (or use Make private in the item's menu; for several ticked items, Make private in the selection bar).
- Confirm.
The item leaves Public. Its public link and the public family trees show it as withdrawn. Links and lineage are kept, so other people's trees do not break. Press Publish to put it back.
