Map every strain, generation by generation.

Breedmap is a breeding and strain tracking app for growers. Record lineages, track your plants and mushrooms with photos, care logs and QR labels, and publish strains to a public registry. It works offline and syncs when you are back online.

Features

Everything a breeding record needs

One app for the whole line: the items, how they are related, what you did to them and what they looked like. Built with one codebase for Android, iPhone, Linux and the browser.

Lineage and generations

Record parents and offspring for every item. The pedigree view shows earlier generations above, children below, with generation badges G1, G2 and so on.

Offline first

Everything is stored in SQLite on your device and the screens read from there, so you can keep working without a connection.

Sync between devices

Edits are queued on the device and sent when you sync. Conflicting edits get a compare screen, and check-outs show who is editing an item where.

QR labels

Each item gets a large, print-ready QR label with its short code. Scan a label with the phone to open the item.

Galleries

Attach photos, videos and documents to items. Adding works offline; files are uploaded with the next sync.

Care log

Log watering, feeding, pruning, repotting and treatment, or your own log types. Entries are added offline and synced later.

Public registry

Publish a released item to a public page after a preview of exactly what goes public. Retract it later if you need to.

Personal and Organization accounts

Every account is Personal or Organization. An account indicator in the header always shows which one you are working in.

Permissions

Account permissions decide who may change structure, add items, check out, release, publish or purge. Tools you may not use are hidden.

How it works

From first cross to public strain

  1. Set up a project

Create a project for a species or line, define its fields and add items. Each item gets a short code like K7M2QX.

  2. Track lineage and care

Link parents and children, add photos and log care as your plants or mushrooms grow.

  3. Sync when you are online

Your edits wait on the device and are sent with the next sync, automatically or by hand.

  4. Publish strains

Release an item, preview what goes public, and publish it to the public registry.

Lineage

See where every item came from

Each item has a short code from an alphabet without look-alike characters, a generation and its parents. Tap a relative to put it in the middle and walk the family tree up and down.

  • Short item codes like K7M2QX, without 0/O and 1/I
  • Generation badges G1, G2, G3 on cards and in the tree
  • Status dots synced, not synced yet, conflict, draft, checked out
  • Hidden parents shown as “?” when a parent is not visible to you
Example pedigree: two parents, the item in the middle, and two children K7M2QXG1 R4TP9AG1 H8WQ3NG2 ZD6L2CG3 M3YB7EG3

Accounts

Work alone or as an organization

Personal or Organization

Every account is Personal (the default) or Organization, chosen when it is created. The account's creator can change the type later. Organization items can name the person who published them, if that person chooses to show their name.

Permissions and approvals

Permissions decide who may change a project's structure, create items, check out, release, publish, break locks or purge old versions. A publish request from an editor waits for an owner's or admin's approval.
