Before you start #
- A login (see Sign up).
- A connection. Once signed in, you can work offline; signing in itself needs the server.
Steps #
- Open the "User info" menu (your picture) and press "Sign in / Register".
- Type your email address. The app remembers addresses used on this device ("Remembered emails"; "Forget this email" removes one).
- Choose how to continue:
- "Email me a code": type the 6-digit code from the email (it works once, for 10 minutes). This always works, also when you have no password.
- "Use my password": type your password and press "Sign in with password". Then comes "One more step": a code from your authenticator app, or an emailed code ("Email me a code instead"). A password sign-in always has this second step.
- "Use a passkey", on devices that support passkeys and after you added one.
- "Continue with Google", where offered, if you linked Google in Security.
The header then shows your name and the workspace you are in.
"Keep me signed in" #
- On: you stay signed in on this device for 30 days, then you confirm it is you again.
- Off: you are signed out when this tab or the app is closed.
Forgot your password? #
On the password step press "Forgot it? Email me a code instead" and sign in with the emailed code. Then set a new password in "My account" > "Security" with "Change password". See Security.
Problems #
- "Too many attempts": wait 15 minutes, or sign in with an emailed code.
- No code within a minute: check the spam or junk folder, then "Send a new code".
- "This email already has a login": you tried to register an address that exists. Sign in with an emailed code instead.
- No connection: the sign-in waits until you are online. Data already on the device stays available.
- "Welcome back, your account is active again and will not be deleted": a pending inactivity deletion was cancelled by your sign-in (see Sign out, delete local data, delete account).
Several logins on one device #
A device can hold up to 5 saved logins. After the first sign-in, add more with "Switch account ›" > "Add account" and switch between them without typing a code again. See Accounts, workspaces and switching.
