Delete your account

How to delete your BreedMap account, what is removed at once, what stays, and what happens to an unused account.

Deleting your account erases you as a person from BreedMap. It does not delete the items you made, so other people's lineages and links keep working.

Before you start #

Be signed in and online. If you want a copy of your data, export it first: "My account" > "Data & storage" > "Export my data" (see Export your data). If you own a company, hand over ownership first; if you are a family's main admin, hand over the main admin role or dissolve the family.

Delete #

  1. Open "User info" menu > "My account" > "Archive or delete" > "Delete account…".
  2. Type DELETE in "Type DELETE to confirm" and press "Delete account".
  3. If asked, confirm it is you with a code (an authenticator app or an emailed code).

This cannot be undone. It happens at once.

What is removed #

  • Your name, email address, birth date, card details (phone, website, social links, bio), profile photo, @handle and every way to sign in (password, authenticator app, passkeys, external sign-ins).
  • Every device is signed out, and old email addresses reserved for you are released.
  • Your follows, friends, contacts, blocks, messaging settings and push device token.
  • You get one last email confirming the deletion.

What stays #

  • Your user ID, without any personal data, so links do not break.
  • Items you published stay public under "Deleted user". In care logs and messages you show as "Former member", and in Messages as "Left BreedMap".
  • The workspaces you worked in and their items, lineage and photos are not deleted. Your Personal workspace stays without an owner; items in a company or family workspace stay with the company or family.
  • Exact photo locations stay stored and hidden; you can ask for them to be replaced with the rounded location.

You can ask [email protected] for specific photos or text to be removed or sanitised; photos showing people are removed on request.

Unused accounts #

The draft policy and Terms say an account that is not used for 12 months has its personal data deleted in the same way, with emails 30 days, 14 days and one day before; signing in stops the deletion and the app shows a short "welcome back" note.

A kid's guardian deletes their account #

From the draft Terms: when the last guardian's account is deleted, a kid aged 15 or older becomes a normal account; a younger kid's account is frozen and can be claimed only through BreedMap support with identification. See Kid accounts and guardians.
