BreedMap is a breeding and lineage tracking app for any living organism: plants, fungi, animals and more. Breeders, growers and strain trackers use it to record lineages (parents, children and generations), keep photos, care logs, care reminders and QR labels for each item, and publish items to a public registry.
What you can do with it #
- Keep projects (one species, one line or one collection) and the items in them: one plant, culture, animal or batch each. See the glossary for the words the app uses.
- Record each item's values on a card of fields you choose, add photos, videos and documents, and write a care log.
- Link items as parents and offspring and look at the result as a family tree.
- Plan care with reminders and see what is due in one Care agenda.
- Print a QR label for each item; scanning it opens the item.
- Publish chosen items to Public, the registry anyone can browse, and follow other people's public projects, people and items.
- Work offline: changes are saved on the device at once and sent to the server at the next sync.
Where it runs #
The app runs in the browser and on phones. On a browser or other wide screen (at least 900 px) items show as a grid of cards and an item opens in a side panel or pop-up. On a phone an item opens full screen.
Development status #
BreedMap is in development. Under the draft Terms of Service it starts as a free beta. Access to the beta, and publishing during the beta, is by invitation only. Beta data may be reset, migrated or deleted, so keep your own backups.
