A company workspace is a shared workspace for a business. Everything made in it belongs to the company. Your own Personal workspace and data stay yours, and the company gets no access to them. A company's public projects show the company's name, not yours.
Before you start #
Be signed in and online.
Create a company #
- Open the "Settings" menu (gear icon) > "Create a company" (or "Workspaces" > "Create or join a company").
- Type the "Company name" and press "Create".
You become the owner. One person can create at most 5 companies and families in total, and at most 3 in an hour.
Join a company #
The owner or an admin invites you by email: "Licence admin" > "Members" > "Invite by email…", pick "Member" or "Admin", then "Send invitation". You answer in "Workspaces" > "Invitations" (Accept or Decline, or "Answer with an ID…" with the ID from the invitation email). The invitation shows the Company ID so you can check who invites you. One person can belong to several companies.
A company is a workspace, not a separate login: switch to it with the workspace chip in the header or "My account" > Workspace > "Switch".
Roles #
- One owner: decides on admins, licences, the inheritor and billing. Can remove anyone. Only the owner can invite admins ("Make admin", "Make member").
- Any number of admins: invite members, appoint licences and remove members, but not other admins or the owner.
- Members: work in the workspace with the seat they are given.
Only owners and admins see "Licence admin". Having a role is not the same as having a seat: an owner or admin also needs a seat (or a token window) to work on items in the company workspace. See Company licences and tokens.
Owner succession #
- "Hand over ownership…" (on an admin's row): they get a request and become the owner when they accept; you become an admin. Until they accept nothing changes. The owner must hand over before leaving.
- "Name as inheritor" (the "Owner succession" card): the admin who takes over as owner automatically if the owner's account is deleted or erased, or when the inactivity deletion process starts for the owner. With no inheritor named, the longest-serving admin takes over. With no admin at all the workspace is frozen: items are kept, nobody can change members, licences or tokens, and a claim goes through BreedMap support with strong ID verification.
Leave #
"Leave company…": you lose access at once, your items stay with the company and your seat returns to the reserve pool. The owner sees "Leave company (hand over first)" until ownership is handed over.
Members of the same company are friends in Messages automatically. See Messages.
