Company licences and tokens

The Professional licences a company can hold, how seats are appointed, and how the token pool charges 10 tokens for a 24-hour window.

Professional licences belong to the company, never to a person. The owner (or an admin) appoints them to named people in "Licence admin".

Before you start #

You are the owner or an admin of a company, signed in and online. Licences are added by the BreedMap team during the beta.

The three licence forms #

  • Single User: exactly one seat, appointed to one named person.
  • Multi User: several seats that you appoint to named people. Unfilled seats wait in the reserve pool.
  • Token pool: a balance of tokens that named token users spend while they work in the company workspace.

A Single User or Multi User seat gives Premium in the company workspace and in the holder's own Personal workspace while it is assigned. A token window gives Premium in the company workspace only.

Appoint, move or remove a seat #

  1. "Licence admin" > "Members" > a member's Actions > "Licence…".
  2. Pick a seat ("… seat (n free)"), "Token user", or "No licence (seat back to the reserve pool)".

"Licences" lists each plan with "x of y seats appointed" and the renewal date; "Show seats" opens the seat map. Someone with Premium another way (their own Single User licence, or a family licence) needs no company seat.

Token pool #

  1. "Licence admin" > "Token users" > "Add token user": pick a member and press "Add".
  2. The person opens the company workspace and works. One minute of use opens a 24-hour window for 10 tokens; nothing is charged before that minute.
  3. Within the window, closing the app, signing in again or using another device costs nothing: the window lives on the server.
  • Tokens last 365 days from purchase.
  • People who already have Premium another way use no tokens.
  • A token window never counts as one of the paid seats, so a company can lend tokens even when every seat is taken.
  • With fewer than 10 tokens left in the pool, token users cannot work in the workspace until it is topped up.
  • "Remove" next to a token user stops them from using the pool.

No seat, no work #

All rights in a company workspace come from the company's licences. A member without a seat or an open token window sees "You have no seat in this workspace" and can only read. Owners and admins are no exception: they can manage licences without a seat but cannot edit items. The owner can appoint a seat to themself.

When a seat is taken away or a licence ends, the person loses working access at the next check (within about a minute). Items above the Free limits in their Personal workspace become read-only unless they have their own Premium. See Paid plans: what changes.

Activity log #

"Licence admin" > "Activity log" lists joins, leaves, role changes and seat changes, newest first.
