Photos, videos and documents

Add files to an item, decide which photo details may be shown in public, blur parts of a photo, and set the item picture.

Each item has a gallery for photos, videos and documents. Without photos the item shows the BreedMap logo.

Before you start #

  • Open the item: Private > the project > the item's tile.
  • Your role must allow changing items.

Add a file #

  1. On the item page, in "Photos", press Add photo (or Add a photo, video or document).
  2. Pick the file. When you add a photo, Shared photo details lists the details found in the file (place, time, device, camera). Ticked details may be shown when the item is public; untick what must stay private. BreedMap keeps the details for you either way, and you can change the ticks later with Shared details in the photo menu.
  3. You can blur the photo before it is added: under Blur parts of the photo (optional), Use blurred photo adds the blurred copy and Skip adds the photo as it is. The original file on your device is never changed.

Limits, the same on every plan: photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP) up to 10 MB, videos up to 30 MB and at most 20 seconds, documents up to 20 MB, 50 files per item and 2 GB of storage per account.

The photo menu #

Open a photo's menu for View, Shared details, Blur parts…, Set as cover and Remove.

Blur parts of a photo #

Use this to hide a car number plate, a face, a house number, a place or any other detail.

  1. Photo menu > Blur parts….
  2. Set the brush size with the Brush slider and paint over what to hide. Undo and Redo work.
  3. Press Use blurred photo. A new blurred copy is added and the original is kept. The app asks "Remove the original photo?"; press Remove original to remove it.

Item picture #

The item picture is the square on the item card. Press Item picture on the item page for Show picture, Take photo, Choose from gallery or files…, Pick from this item's photos… and Remove (back to the Breedmap logo). After choosing a picture, drag it to choose the square part to show, and use the Smaller / Bigger slider to zoom. Press Save.

Offline and privacy #

  • Adding photos works offline; they upload at the next sync. Changing shared details and covers needs a connection.
  • Exact photo locations stay private in your own workspace. Other people see a location rounded to about 1 km, and only when the place detail is ticked.
  • What a public page shows follows each photo's sharing ticks.
