📜History | The Karelian Bear Dog originated from the Komi dog, also called the dog of Zyrians. Basic stock dogs came from the Lagoda's Karelia, Olonets, and Russian Karelia, used for various game hunting. Breeding started in 1936 to create a sturdy dog that barks at big game. The first standard was established in 1945, and the first dogs were registered in 1946. The breed is common in Finland today. |
